This is the happiest book I’ve ever read in my entire life. An enjoyable 3 stars for most of the book but the last 3-ish chapters brought in a trope that I HATE so the ending has left me a little bitter about this book. Josh’s character was a nice contrast to Hazel’s. I loved all of the animals and other quirky little bits added in. While I knew where things were headed the whole time, Hazel’s character kept me invested in reading. Hazel is an elementary school teacher who has no trouble being her best self.
They are a prop to help the lead discover joys in themself and the world around them. Once the discovery has been made, the lead moves on, and the dream girl is left behind. Everything rang true, really, and that’s actually pretty rare.

The side characters and their relationships with Josh and Hazel are all presented very well! I love the relationship that Hazel developed with Josh and Emily’s mom and I enjoyed the sibling relationship between Josh and Emily as well! Overall, the characters are executed phenomenally! Josh and Hazel are obviously the highlight but none of the side characters were neglected or underdeveloped. Even with a heroine I can only take in small doses, JOSH AND HAZEL is a fun, steamy read.
